Quarto (12.5" x 9.5") - very large book. Publishers boards, green cloth, gilt embossing of titling and decoration on front and spine. Decorated edges. 383pp, Index, Introduction by A.G.Temple. Contents (listed as short passages from the Bible - see photo below). 183 approx plates. Please note, this is a collection of pictures only and there is no Biblical text other than the passages in the Contents. All plates b&w. Condition is Good. Some marking to front cover (appears to be cleanable other than one spot, see picture below). Folding and bumping to head and tail of spine and corners. Offset mottling to end papers. Some spotting to Contents pages (not to images as on different paper stock). Back board cracked at hinge but attached (see photo below). Some opening at a few places at spine but text block fully attached (see photo below). Internally illustrations clean, clear and sound.

This is a very substantial collection of paintings selected from the Victorian and Pre-Rapahelite eminents. As there is no text, this book is a large selection of the works of the period as full-page plates (6" x 8" approx for most). The selection is from both New and Old Testament subjects. Artists illustrated include (amongst many others):
