Edited by R. A. Profeit

Aberdeen: Taylor and Henderson, Lithographers and Printers to Her Majesty, 1894

This book is steeped in the history of Victorian nobility, Balmoral and Queen Victoria. It is a collection of art works and literary contributions solicited by HRH Princess Beatrice to raise funds for the rebuilding of Crathie Parish Church. Crathie Parish Church, on the Balmoral Estate and final resting place of John Brown, held a very special place in Queen Victoria's sentiment. The great and the good rallied to contribute to both this volume and to the Bazaar held to raise funds. From the 'Editorial Notice' within this volume:

"Under these circumstances, Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice, ever deeply interested in all that pertains to the welfare of the Parish, suggested that a Bazaar should be held, and promised to take an active and personal interest in its promotion. This proposal, being submitted to Her Majesty the Queen, received cordial coutenance and support. Many others, throughout the country, have interested themselves in the project, and, with so much spontaneous and valuable assistance, there is every reason to anticipate that the object at heart will e entirely realised."

Printed as limited 'Edition de Luxe', this is number 58 of 200. This volume contains not only the donated and signed works (from Byron, Henry Irving, Jerome K Jerome, Burne-Jones, Leighton etc etc) but also the Crathie Parish Church Bazaar programme of events. It reads as an illustrious and glittering event:

"Opened the First Day by H.R. H. The Princess Louise (Marchioness of Lorne).

Opened the Second Day by H.R. H. The Princess Beatrice (Princess Henry of Battenberg)"

" ~ Stalls~
