A very thorough and comprehensive book dealing with the movements and trends in British art and the individual artists themselves, encompassing the Pre-Raphaelites to the moderns such as Vanessa Bell, Duncan Grant, Stanley Spencer - the Great Exhibition to the Festival of Britain. It also details the social, political and economic background to the production of their work - for example the necessity to develop copyright, the formation of Art Unions and the work of art dealers.
Condition is Good with dustjacket Fair. Dustjacket is price-clipped and frayed at the edges. Very slight bumping to boards and light sunning to top 0.5cm of spine. Top edge dusty. Offset to endpapers. Internally pages are clean, tidy and sound with some age-toning. Plates clean, bright and sound. Binding sound. Overall a nice, tidy book with a slightly worn dustjacket.
